Project NEO Website - Team 1164
Project NEO Robotics, Team 1164, is a multi-school competition robotics team from Las Cruces, New Mexico, with a desire for expanding their horizons. NEO is an acronym meaning New Engineering Opportunities. The team is comprised of students from Mayfield High School, Las Cruces High School, Oñate High School, Early College High School, and several home school students.
Every year, Project NEO competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. It is the largest robotics competition in the world with over 1650 teams competing at 43 different regional competitions. This year, Project NEO competed in the Arizona Regional Competition in Phoenix, Arizona on March 17 - March 19. Our robot, "Hephaestus", competed in the quarterfinals, marking Project NEO's 9th complete season.
Our team mentors are: Jeff and Kathy Harris, Rick Pierce, Randy and Deanna Rankin, and Cheryl Gardner. Project NEO has also retained former team members who now attend New Mexico State University: Michael Harris, Julie Harris, Dylan Davis, and Kathryn Sager. These new mentors have returned to share their passion, knowledge and experience with those remaining on the team.
Project NEO is almost entirely supported by NASA - White Sands Test Facility. Without their generous help, competing at this level would not be possible. Las Cruces Public Schools is our sponsoring organization.
